Ultrasound Guided Injections
Cortisone injections have been utilized in the Rheumatology and Orthopedic settings to help manage acute and chronic joint pain. At Jeffrey A. Alper, M.D., PA, one of our associates will evaluate you and determine if an ultrasound guided injection could be beneficial as part of your treatment plan. Ultrasound has proven adequate in identifying fluid collection , bursitis , tenosynovitis and other anomalies. It is also used in the process of identifying anatomical structures for proper needle placement, leading to less pain during the procedure and overall better results.
PRP is blood plasma that contains concentrated amounts of platelets. The platelets are rich in proteins that can trigger and accelerate tissue repair. In Rheumatology PRP has been used for the management of inflammation in patients with osteoarthritis for patients that are not surgical candidates. A provider evaluation would be needed to confirm if the patient is a good candidate for this treatment.
